I, too have a disorder but not a panic disorder. I have an anxiety disorder and I find meditation very helpful. Because anxiety is very similar to a panic disorder, these thoughts run through your mind. Meditation has helped reduce the panic and anxiety in my mind. I feel so good afterwards like I just got back to reality from a ride in the sky or another world. I recommend it, i think you should really try!

@TheGuitargod80 Yes, it can be a really good help! But what the problem really is with you, is that your mind (!) is creating anxiety and anxious thoughts. If you are not able to still and observe your mind, it is possible to have a anxiety attack while your meditating because you identify with these thoughts. I would suggest to have a go at meditation and just OBSERVE your thoughts, don’t think about ‘em. As said in the video, no-thought state is the meditative state.

@Phuuer Dude, you need to breathe to burn food to energy, if you do ABSOLUTELY nothing then you will need to breathe very very less often. The video doesnt say that you will have to stop breathing totally, just control it.

Prayer is a form of meditation and an accompaniment to it. I think you should research it a bit and stop being a dick.

@lagging199527 pt 2 so i dont know where you got that idea, even though christianity grew rampant in the west, it is at its root a system from the east. lol i dont know how you can pervert meditation because only a few christians meditate as the word says and few even know what it is. but as far as heychysm which is taught to eoc’s and the ethiopians and orientals(which i am not apart of) meditation is taught in those churches.

    January 6, 2012 at 10:27 am #

@lagging199527 really tell me how that happened? seeing as though jesus christ himself mediated, and that even ancient organized denominations such as the orthodox church practice meditation and hesychsym. and even the bible verse itself “be still and know i am God, and christ telling his disciples to walk in there closet close it. theres two hebrew words for meditation saga and higa and they are used alot in the old testament.meditation is mentioned 15 times in the psalms.

@mrgaberoberts believe that you already are there, that you always have been ‘there’..here, and this is where you belong.. the thought state has just aroused your potential to experience no-thought with gratitude… and you are slowly becoming aware of the limitless implications/experience this entails (maybe? i sometimes try to focus on gratitude for the freely given universe until that gratitude becomes my being)

@mrgaberoberts I have had trichotillomania for a long time. It’s been over 20 years of struggle with my bald spot. Recently, my doctor prescribed Zoloft. WOW!!!! It works and I no longer have that urge. Amazing. Maybe I can try TM, too.

I have something called trichotillomania, where my anxiety is channeled through me feeling the need to pull out my hair, strand by strand. It leaves big bald spots that take forever to grow back, so I need another way to channel my stress and anxiety and this is definitely it. The only thing is, it’s nearly impossible for me to get to the no thought state, because I keep thinking about getting there. Anyone got any suggestions?

This is something I need. I’m following Buddhism teaching now, and I want to do this to the end of my life, got a book “the Art of Meditation” must read it in free time. Got to start practicing with Meditation for me the only thing is how to enter this state of mind or should I say No Mind (like Osho mentioned in his wise words). Peace with Buddha.

@iMilkSH4K3 I’m a Christian too (a very strong one at that) and I’m certainly not trying to become a Buddhist, but I am interest in having less anxiety and more power over my thought life as promised to us in the Bible. This video was interesting. I’m gonna try it & see.

@FuzzBean84 I dont know where your getting your facts but there are many Gurus and Yogis that are women. One of the most famous incarnations of the Guru was a woman.

@Scaly420 Idk about evil spirits or damnation but both these religions teach and train you to inquire within for happiness as opposed to without. Seeking without will only bring about a more active mind and more uneasiness. Seek within and you are able to destroy the mind and remove obstacles.

    January 6, 2012 at 7:41 pm #

    @snowboarder952
I concur with the last line.
Especially when you’re talking about monotheism that induces crazy fear into the mind with anything involving demons… and eternal punishment for so much as looking at a ladies rack and simply thinking “Oh, she got a nice rack” and being damned forever because you do not believe a certain way.
Do I believe in after life?… Yes
    Demons? No… Evil spirits? Yes
Damnation?… Yes, in means of spirit correction
HOT DAMN! Call me Hindu XD

@Scaly420 Hinduism and Buddhism are very similar, in fact some believe that Buddhism was actually started from Yogis traveling east into China and spreading their knowledge into Asia.

Actually alot of Buddhist terms are derived from ancient Sanskrit. Buddha/Buddhi are Sanskrit terms and just refer to a being who has reached enlightenment or self realization.

Either way I think both are good to study and aspire to. Any spiritual work of the sort is miles ahead of monotheistic religions

All religions have a kernel of spiritual truth, buried under the centuries of politics and priests

I believe anyone who truly seeks Enlightenment can find it, whether it is through Nature, Christ, or Krishna.

What matters is letting go of the ego and attachment to the material world, as it is the way to inner peace.

wouldn’t heart to apply with some of everyday reasoning, would it? Perhaps even make it an extension of ones faith, in a means of being less condescending towards others.

I will agree with you to a point. However, one thing that no one can ignore, no matter how hard they try, for whatever reason, is that there is a spiritual side in all of us. From what I have read so far, I would say Hinduism practices/philosophies would be an agreeable recommendation for anyone to apply to their own ways.

The elephant is Ganesh; The Hindu elephant-headed god of wisdom and success.
The study is still brand new to me. Much of it may seem strange, but it

@Leofox94 I do believe that God exists, it’s a matter of defenition. I believe God isn’t a dude with a big white beard, but that God is energy around us; in nature, love, etc. Don’t get affraid of God, that is what very pious priests think is oke or that is what the bad force in life (devil) wants.

    @ERdept1 err hello?

I’m a tamil from sri lanka, and i’d advise you to read up on the buddist majority’s / government’s discrimination and the resulting genocides and freedom war that happened against our people. Lasted 30 years and ended 2 years ago only. Tamil people are Hindu, Catholic and Muslim. Very few are buddist. And no Mr Know-it-all, it wasn’t a case of a few twisted ppl leading the largely peaceful buddists — it was gov, buddist F-ing MONKS, soldiers, common citizen .. all.

  45. ERdept1
    January 7, 2012 at 6:10 am #

@ERdept1 That’s the beauty of Buddhism. Zero pilots, the Samurai used Buddhism in a twisted way. Enter not mind, kill or be killed with the skill of a meditative monk. Goodbye. See you in the next cycle.

  46. Rouben
    January 7, 2012 at 6:42 am #

@ERdept1 With all due respect, don’t you think you’re using confirmation bias? The wars between and within Tibet and Bhutan were religious in nature and were fought on behalf of different schools of Buddhism. We should really say that, indeed, religion has been used as a tool to garner public support for wars. No religion has caused a war on its own. Are we to assume that before Christianity there were no wars? Or that there were no wars in China because there was no Christianity there?

  47. ERdept1
    January 7, 2012 at 7:12 am #

@Rouben YUP, true. The fewest of all religions. Amazing. The preponderence of evidence is that of a peaceful religion. Those wars you speak of were of really individuals leading groups against other individual opposing. NOT like western religions of a whole stated bias against anything not Christian or Catholic. One is systemic, the other is of charasmatic leaders, leading their followers.
